Russian Migration card (Arrival /Departure slip):
TIME – Now a days’ Time is GMT + 3 in both cities: Moscow & St. Petersburg i.e. two and half hour behind Indian Standard Time.
Use the Pedestrian Underpasses and be Careful on the Zebra Crossings: Just a few years ago, zebra crossing was more of a suggested crossing point than a spot were cars were obliged to stop. Things have changed for the better, but nonetheless watch out for cars that fail to give way – there are still plenty of them around.
Fortunately there is help at hand in the form of pedestrian underpasses, which can be found at just about every major street corner and along most busy roads. Just keeps an eye out for the blue sign depicting a stick figure walking down a flight of stairs.
RUSSIAN CURRENCY– All prices are generally quoted in Russian roubles. You may exchange currency at hotels, banks, and currency exchange kiosks. Traveller’s checks are hard to cash. Credit cards are accepted in most places that work with foreign tourists. Some may turn down American Express. Visa and MasterCard are known, hence — more widely honoured. ATM machines are widely available in major cities, but note: they do not have letters on the key pad, so if you’re PIN includes letters, do remember them as digits! Do not exchange currency in the streets if a native Russian offers to sell you roubles. Always carry some currency with you because many shops do not accept credit cards.
Remember to change your roubles to dollars/euro before you leave Russia. Most exchange office outside Russia will not change roubles.
Right now 01USD = App. 65 Roubles (03rd Sep 2015) Please don’t bring old dollars or Euros notes. Currency should be clean without any stamp, sign or any Mark on it. Russian banks/ currency change kiosks may refuse to exchange those. It’s better to bring new EURO or USD notes. Don’t bring travellers checks. It will be a hard to find Place to Cash them and it’ll take you a lot of time.
CLIMATE – Most of country has a continental climate, with long cold winter and short summer.
